Applications
Since its opening, the Kalideos Isle-Reunion database allowed to enhance the works carried out by several research organisations into quite varied topics:
The monitoring of volcanoes and the understanding of eruptive phenomena,
Decision making aid in agriculture for the sugarcane field, through production assessment and harvest follow-up,
The study of landslides related to volcanic activity and erosion process,
The monitoring of the shoreline also affected by soil erosion,
The surveillance of coastal environment.
The relevance of the Kalideos data and the quality of the achieved results regarding these topics aroused the interest of other scientific teams and lead them to make the most of the database content in complementary fields: The use of remote sensing for the study of land use modes (Temos project),
The mapping of coral reef formations and their observation,
The river torrential dynamics on the Reunion island (Dyntorre project),
The measurement of deformations related to volcanic activity.
More details about the works related to all these applications, the scientific teams who have carried them out and the achieved results are available in the section dedicated to each of these topics.
