Welcome to the Kalideos Web site !
The Kalideos programme, set up by CNES during year 2000, aims at developing remote sensing reference databases for the scientific community.
In the frame of this programme, four databases have been implemented to support the integration of satellite imagery in basic or applied research projects :
- The Adam database, devoted to the agricultural field and the space data assimilation process within agronomic models,
- The Isle-Réunion database, the multi-thematic purpose of which makes it possible to cover quite varied topics, from decision making support in tropical agriculture to volcanology,
- The Littoral database, which addresses issues more particularly related to coastal areas,
- The OSR MiPy database, focusing more particularly on the management of water resources in an agricultural context and on land planning issues.
These databases are exclusively reserved for scientific use, whatever the country of origin of the researchers who want to consult them. They are aimed at research and development programmes focused on the development of new applications, or activities intended for demonstrating the potential of spatial data for a specific field, consistently with the implementation of the Copernicus initiative (formerly known as GMES - Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) .
The Kalideos databases are regularly updated, among others by the research teams which use them in their work This server describes the features of each of them, as well as examples of concrete applications carried out using their content. It also details the procedure to follow in order to access to this content.
